Elul is fast approaching, and he amazing Sarah Chandler (Kohenet Shamirah) of Shamir Collective—my feldmestn collaborator for the past four years— has made grave measuring and soul candle making kits using my ritual guides, which are now available to order from Pushcart Judaica

Each kit contains:
Candle wick (enough to measure two averaged-sized graves)

Pliable natural beeswax (enough to make 4-8 small candles)

A box of wooden matches with the words נשמה ליכט neshome likht (soul candles) printed in Yiddish on the side.

A card to take with you to the cemetery with instructions and tkhines (prayers or supplications) for grave measuring in Elul and at times of crisis

A card to use at home with instructions and tkhines for making soul candles for Yom Kippur (with adaptations for other times of the year)
